Description
Polyps arising singly from a narrow, creeping stolon, without secondary budding (cf. Alcyonacea); stolon sometimes expanded to form an encrusting membrane. Colonies form encrusting networks by branching and anastomosing, occasionally coalescing to form membranous sheets. Stolon and anthosteles often covered with thin, horny periderm. Sclerites may be present or absent.
