Description
Solitary, free Caryophylliidae; edge-zone of polyp completely covering corallum; corallum of adults wedge-shaped and laterally compressed; columella well-developed - lamellar, pali absent. Juveniles may lack columella their shape is often different from adults, usually subcylindrical and not laterally compressed. Asexual reproduction by transverse fission is common.
