Genus Virgularia

Description
Very slender sea-pens. Autozooids retractile, fused into small leaves which are arranged in two opposing lateral rows on the rachis. Siphonozooids are located at the bases of the leaves or, more rarely, on the dorsal surface of the rachis. Sclerites absent or represented only by small oval platelets in the stalk.

Type-species: Virgularia mirabilis (O. F. Muller, 1776)
